3 Reasons to Dramatically Transform Your Home with Color & Patterns

Color and pattern can transform a space in more ways than you probably imagined. Whether they transform the mood of a room, change how large or small the room feels, or help tell a story, pattern and color are major tools for interior designers to make dramatic transformations for our clients. We'll share three reasons to consider using patterns or color in your home.

Reason #1: Color Captures Your Energy & Evokes Emotion

Color is so vital for igniting emotions or setting the mood in a space. We've seen firsthand how color can inspire energy in a space or bring calmness to a room. Think about how differently you would feel if you walked into a bedroom with very muted pale green colors, with hints of cream and beige, compared to the feeling you would have if you walked into a room with dark walls and dim lighting. Use color to create the energy and mood of the room you are going for, whether relaxation and wellness or energy and conversation.

Reason #2: Patterns Reflect Your Personality & Add Interest

Pattern is another powerful tool in an interior designer's toolbelt. We use patterns to add a pop of color or even create harmony with the other pieces in the room. We also use them to invite movement that keeps the eyes scanning the room. Patterns create visual interest that really makes a statement in the room. One of our favorite places to add patterns is on the ceiling or in throw pillows. Patterns are a great way to add personality!

Reason #3: Your Colors & Patterns Blend to Create Harmony

We expertly coordinate colors and patterns to create harmony in a space. When you have harmony in a space, you feel at ease. For example, if we are furnishing multiple spaces in a house, we want each space to have its own identity but harmonize to help the house feel cohesive and intentional.

We may pick a color and repeat it throughout the home. We may pull a color from a pattern in one room and use that color in the adjoining room. We never want a home to be jarring as you change from one space to the next, and pattern and color are the main factors that help us accomplish this.

We love working with clients to find the perfect mix of colors and patterns for their homes. Over the years, we've discovered that patterns one person loves might not appeal to another. So, we find the perfect mix of colors and patterns you love and, more importantly, create the emotional feeling you want to have when you are in that particular room.
